About the Program:

Dr. Brenda M. Greene and Rosamond S. King discuss the themes in King’s most recent book, Rock, Salt, Stone; her scholarship on Caribbean and African sexuality and literature; and her life as a writer, scholar, and performer who uses the literary form in creative and politically engaging ways.  During the discussion, King renders a musical interpretation of one of the poems in her book.

About the Author:

Rosamond S. King is a poet and scholar of African and Caribbean sexuality, literature and performance in the English Department at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.  Her most recent book is Rock, Salt, Stone. In the words of King, her poetry “often ‘moves’ on the page, using different forms of English and different physical and poetic structures.” Her book Island Bodies: Transgressive Sexualities in the Caribbean Imagination won the 2015 Lewis Award for Best Caribbean Studies book from the Caribbean Studies Association. At My Belly & My Back, a chapbook of poems, was published in 2009.
