About the Author:
Kalisha Buckhanon is the author of the recently published novel Solemn and the titles Upstate and Conception, a winner of book awards from the American Library Association and Friends of American Writers, a recipient of fellowships from the Illinois Arts Council and the Mellon/Mays Foundation. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sisters in Crime, an alumnus of University of Chicago’s English Department, and the MFA in creative writing program of The New School in New York City.

The John Oliver Killens Reading Series is a literary program that presents established authors, poets, and scholars as well as emerging writers with opportunities to discuss the craft of writing and read from their recently published work. Programs are presented the second Thursday of each month during the academic year and open to the college community and the general public.
