Dear Friends of the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College:
Please join us in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Black Classic Press, May 18–May 20, 2018, hosted by the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture, 830 E. Pratt St., Baltimore, MD 21202.
Founded by W. Paul Coates in 1978, Black Classic Press (BCP) is devoted to publishing obscure and significant works by and about people of African descent that have helped in meaningful ways to shape the Black diasporic experience and our understanding of the world.
Black Classic Press has been supported for 40 years with the help of an amazing and diverse community of supporters, and BCP could not exist without them. Its 40th year will be a celebration of all the publishing company has overcome and the amazing people who have been there to see them through.
