The 2015 Elders Writing Workshop, Tales of Our Times, in association with the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College presented its program “Still…Our Memories of Civil Rights, Segregation, and Bridges Yet to Be Crossed,” on June 28, 2015.
The program took place at Siloam Presbyterian Church, 260 Jefferson Ave., in Brooklyn, New York. During the afternoon program, the members of the writing workshop read shared with invited guests and the audience their personal stories in which the ladies recalled personal encounters in their earlier years during the time of the civil rights struggle.
The program’s emcee was Eisa Ulen Richardson, workshop leader of the Elders Writing Workshop.
Following the presentation by the Elders, and in keeping with their theme of “Bridges Yet to Be Crossed,” the program also included readings by younger members of the church, some who are relatives of participants in the Elders Writing Workshop.
